Spotted! The GT350R Hits the Streets of Death Valley!

February 16, 2015 by Bridgett Davis

In what appears to be an eye spy moment one passer recently stumbling across what appears to be a Shelby GT350R test mule parked openly in the parking lot of a Phoenix, Arizona hotel has captured a few photos of the undercover halo ride of the Blue Oval. Likely out for some final testing in extreme heat conditions prior to its official release what better spot than the dry hellish climate of the south west to test the mighty steed.
Shrouded beneath the black exterior while the distinct lines of the Shelby GT350R may have went unnoticed by many it is fairly obvious this is the real deal. Sporting the tell-tale signs of the rear seat delete, quad exhaust, front and rear valence as well as the slit in the front fender, there is pretty well no mistaking this for anything but, a Shelby GT350R.
Unsure exactly what kind of testing this mule endured it is safe to say it likely underwent some intense and pretty extreme real world testing for the simple fact of why bring it to one of the harshest climates in North America unless you are going to push the limits. With estimated horsepower to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 the GT350R powered by the new 5.2L V8 engine, the first-ever production V8 from Ford with a flat-plane crankshaft is by far the most track ready Mustang Ford has ever built. Sporting a new lighter weight design, improved aerodynamics and chassis engineering we can garner all of the above and more were put to some final testing this particular day in the unleashing of pony power at its best prior to its release into the market. What do you think? Is this the GT350R undercover out for some final testing?
