Will the Devil’s Reject Find its Salvation

October 02, 2014 by Bridgett Davis

What does it take to grab the win? Well if you ask Brian and Michelle Devilbiss a whole lot of determination, a great pit crew, and the simple belief that you can achieve the impossible. To tell this dynamic duo it can’t be done is like feeding fuel to the fire. Give this team a hurdle and they shall overcome.

A couple rich in history, with a need for speed, both grew up on the hot sticky pavement and gained their love for the ride early on. Feeding their addiction on everything from the strip, to the dirt, to the grass, to yes the ice drags, give this couple a surface and they will show you how to throw down Devilbiss style.

With the intent to buy a ride that they could both drive on the street and have a little fun in, this husband and wife team picked up their 2013 Shelby GT500 5.8 liter from Performance Evolution in July of 2013, not realizing at the time this ride was about to take them on the journey of a lifetime. Holding the record for the quickest 6-speed manual Shelby in the World from 2007-2014 at 8.94 until recently, this team is now determined to achieve new records. With that said, they have recently dropped in a Precision GEN2 Pro Mod 94 CEA® turbo set-up from Nelson Whitlock along with some other one of a kind custom go fast goodies from American Racing Headers and finishing off the new set up with an updated 7.50 roll cage also from Whitlock.

With the goal in mind to regain bragging rights, the Devilbissteam is now on a defeat and destroy mission to throw down at the VMP Superchargers Terminator vs GT500 Shootout taking place in Bowling Green, Kentucky this weekend at the 16thAnnual Nitto NMRA World Finals.

With recent dyno and tuning at Lund Racing, it appears we are in for an interesting weekend. With last dyno session producing1,439 RWHP and 1,348 RWTQ on 23 psi backed by a TH400 transmission, we just might see the Iceman take the win along breaking some new records for bragging rights. On a recent test pass at Atco Dragway in New Jersey, the Devil’s Reject with the Iceman piloting, threw down an amazing 7.88 @ 178mph on the ¼, with a total weight of 3,650lbs, that by the way included the rear seat on this pass.

With only two test passes now on the new set up, the stage is set for the 2014 NMRA World Finals. The question at hand is what will the other players in the game bring to the table and will this be enough to take on this new set-up? Well if you ask theDevilbiss husband and wife team they will tell you to stay tuned and that answer will come within 7.88 seconds or less on the straight away in just a few days.
